Meet the Sheriff:
Jerry "Peanuts" Gaines

I was born, raised and been a life long resident of Warren County. Son of the late Kathryn Gaines Forrester and Emory Peanuts-Gaines.

I am a graduate of Bowling Green High School and served in the U.S. Army. I live on a farm and raise cattle in Smiths Grove, Ky. I have always loved horses and like seeing them show.

I am an active member of the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Shrine, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police, Moose and other numerous civic and community actives.

It was my pleasure and privilege to serve as the President for the National Sheriff’s Association and still actively involved in the National Sheriffs’ Associations and the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association.

Out of many nominations throughout the United States I was awarded the 2006 Buford Pusser Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. This was the 18th Annual Buford Pusser Festival held each year in Adamsville, TN.

I am married to Marilyn Gaines, we live in Smiths Grove and attend Smiths Grove Baptist Church. We have six children, Nancy Clark, Ronnie East, Mike Gaines, Kelly Jenkins, Phillip Gaines and Ashley Buttrum and seven grandchildren.
